CHURCH GRAVE STONES INFORMATION:

Gravestones on the South Side of the Presbyterian Church, Union Street , Lambertville , NJ.

In the graveyard George Coryell, Revolutionary war Lieutenant and pallbearer of George Washington, is buried here along with Sam Holcombe, one of General Washington’s spies.

1. (tall white monument) John Holcombe, died 9/30/1851, son of Richard & Ann Holcombe (erected by a grandchild)
2. (tall red monument) George Coryell, February 1850. (Badly shaled. A photograph of monument will be found in Traditions of Hunterdon, published by D. H. Moreau in 1957 (between pages 2 & 3), where it is stated that George Coryell died 2/18/1851
